Amador Business Ticker came about because of my mother.

When we go out to eat—and when there isn’t a pandemic—she always wonders what’s going on in Jackson and surrounding communities. I didn’t know, and I couldn’t get a lot of answers, so I decided to do something about it.

I’ve lived in Jackson for over ten years now. My experiences with Jackson stretch back to 1996 when I started to visit Jackson at least once a month after my parents bought the Court Street Inn bed and breakfast. So, I think I have a pretty good feel for the local community.

I also own Butow Communications Group, a website development company, so I’m naturally interested in what’s happening with local businesses.

My writing experience comes from writing computer books as well as technical writing for companies large and small, writing articles for tech magazines, and editing monthly magazines for computer user groups in the 1980s and ‘90s.

If you have any exposure to the Sacramento business news scene, then you probably know about the Sacramento Business Journal and Comstock’s Magazine. Right now, the Amador Business Ticker takes a lot of cues from the Business Journal and sprinkles in some magazine elements. As with any venture like this, the Amador Business Ticker will evolve and grow over time.

That is, if you think it’s worthy of keeping around. I’m always interested in hearing from you about how to make the Amador Business Ticker better. Please e-mail me your questions and suggestions.

I hope you enjoy our first stories, and I’m looking forward to sharing more with you.

Thanks,
Eric Butow
